I have to be honest—I used to think Stonehenge Gradiations fabric was OK. Other people loved it; I thought it was OK. I'd even go so far as to say nice.
Well, now I love, love, love this fabric! And why, you ask? Because of this pattern: Sundown by Kathey Marie Designs. Using six Stonehenge fabrics and this pattern, I made a beautiful 36" x 36" wall hanging. The movement of the Gradiations gives a true sense of a mountain’s twisting and layering of stone.
I also have to be honest—although this quilt doesn’t require much fabric, I made enough mistakes that I ended up using more than the pattern called for. But I think it was worth it. I see a lot more Stonehenge Gradiations in my future!
By the time I finished this quilted wall hanging, I was already thinking about making another one. Not because I need two, but because I now understand what I can do with this fabric.
For a while now, I’ve wanted to make a wall-hanging quilt inspired by the view from our west-facing windows. I was never quite sure how to capture the movement of a mountain in fabric—but now I know. With Stonehenge Gradiations, I can do a really good job of replicating that view.
Right now, Laurel Tree Fabric and Fiber has six Stonehenge Gradiations 44" bolts in stock. And I’d say it’s safe to assume more will be arriving in the future!
